Horticultural Association (TAHA) is an apex private sector member based
organization mandated to develop and promote horticultural crops (flowers,
fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs and horticultural seeds) in Tanzania. TAHA's
goal is to improve the growth and competitiveness of horticultural industry in
the country for social and economic gains, TAHA is a strong voicing platform,
representing farmers at all levels, processors, exporters and service providers
In the horticultural industry in Tanzania TAHA is looking for motivated and
highly experienced individuals to fill the following positions:
Dodoma (2), Zanzibar (Unguja) (1), Dar Es Salaam
(1).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Mobilize farmers into formal groups/associations and register them with TAHA.
- Introduce innovative horticultural practices as you work to empower farmers with technical skills and capabilities through business oriented extension services.
- Collaborate with Marketing Department in connecting tanners with reliable and sustainable markets.
- Prepare and coordinate technical training programs, farmer field days, workshops, exchange visits and other farmers networking events.
- Work with the Policy and Advocacy Department in advocating for horticultural farmers interests at local Government level in your area of operation.
- Connect value chain actors in your work areas to ensure synergies and experience sharing.
- Maintain solid relations between TAHA, and lGAs and other ground partners in the respective areas.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly activities implementation plans, budgets and reports.
Qualifications:
A
degree in the field of agriculture, horticulture, soil science or related
areas. Experience of at least 3 years in providing agronomy technical services
to horticultural farmers, a horticulture company or an agricultural related
organization/company.
Experience
in providing and managing agronomy technical services in a donor funded project
will be an added advantage.
